Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Bright spark offered bursary from CQUni Mackay 

Whitsunday Anglican College student Ryan Branch says an interest in economics and legal studies could form the basis of his study options when applying for university next year.  

The Year 11 received a CQUniversity Award for highest achievements in his year level.

The CQUniversity Award aims to encourage academic achievement among school students, as part of a commitment to education in the Mackay, Isaac, Whitsunday region.

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Community & Engagement) and Head of Campus at CQUniversity Mackay, Professor Pierre Viljoen said CQUniversity was focused on giving students more opportunity to further education and training upon graduating from high school.

"CQUniversity values its links with local schools and students," Professor Viljoen said.

"The University aims to provide the region's graduating high school students with high-quality local education without the stress of leaving family and friends to study away from home."
