'Toads' of media interest

CQUniversity Research Fellow Dr Scott Wilson has been gaining plenty of media attention this month, with newspaper and radio reporters highlighting his study of toad abnormalities in the Gladstone region...

With toads touted as an early indicator of environmental issues (akin to the coalmine canary), initial studies have indicated Gladstone specimens have a higher than expected rate of developmental abnormalities.

Dr Wilson says there's no need for alarm just yet but he plans to broaden and strengthen his data and also to narrow the list of possible environmental triggers for the abnormalities.
