Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Survey reveals CQUniversity graduates are better paid 

CQUniversity's first-job graduates have consistently earned more money than the state and national average since 2004, according to annual surveys conducted by Graduate Careers Australia.

In the latest survey, CQUniversity graduates recorded an overall median salary of $50,000, compared with the national and state overall median salary of $49,000.

The University's building graduates' median salary was substantially higher than the national average - $71,000 compared with $55,000.

In the category of ‘Other Engineering', CQUniversity students recorded an average salary of $68,800 compared with $58,000.

Computer sciences, life sciences and health graduates also outperformed other university graduates with salaries $60,000 and more.
