Bundaberg Foundation celebrates Bundy in Bloom

With Bundaberg alive with blooming flowers CQU Foundation joined the Bundy in Bloom celebrations with some blooming good music.
More than 100 people attended the free concert at historic Fairymead House in the city’s Botanical Gardens.
With 14 of the city’s best local musicians playing a wide variety of chamber music there was plenty of toe tapping and at times dreamy eyes in the audience.
Three of the musicians had a link to the University with CQU Conservatorium of Music virtual student Jenny Kerswell, CQU Bundaberg graduate Dell Jensen and PhD student and tutor Wendy Davies participating in the event.
CQU Foundation coordinator Deirdre Fagan-Pagliano said the aim of the concert was to thank the community for its support of the Foundation and the University.
“The Foundation was established in Bundaberg 10 years ago with the aim of engaging the community with the University and vice versa. For example it is thanks to the Bundaberg community that the campus library was replenished and we are grateful for the financial support given then and in current projects such as scholarships and awards and prizes,” she said.
“Bundaberg is rich with musical talent and the musicians that performed at the concert all volunteered their time. The Foundation was once again responding to the cultural needs of the community while developing partnerships and making new friends.
Afterwards the audience enjoyed refreshments including wine and cheese and took the chance to mingle with the musicians, definitely showing their appreciation for 90 minutes of blooming good entertainment.
