Thirty pizzas were no match for the 80 high school students who attended an information session held at CQU Bundaberg recently (May 26).
The event was hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA). The ICAA is the professional body for chartered accountants in Australia, representing over 46,000 chartered accountants.
The event aimed to give regional high school students an insight into a professional accounting career.
Students were given the opportunity to hear short presentations from ICAA marketing coordinator Amy Taylor, accounting lecturer Stacey Cowan and representatives from DGZ & Ulton Chartered Accountants.
"Business is everywhere so accounting for business is also everywhere. This means demand for professionally qualified accountants is high whether it is in the private sector, the public sector or in the not-for-profit sector," said CQU accounting lecturer Stacey Cowan.
"In contrast to the traditional 'bean counter' view of accounting, the modern day accountant has an exciting and rewarding career that can take them to great heights in business anywhere in Australia or even the world," she said.
