Uni showcases offerings and high achievers in Emerald

CQUniversity held its annual Orientation Day and Academic Awards Ceremony in Emerald on Monday February 21.
The Orientation Day was held at CQUniversity's Emerald Learning Centre, with over 30 new students in attendance.

With three student mentors assisting the new students with Orientation, it was a day of motivational learning for everyone.
Maria Parlato, Senior Education Academic in the School of Education said, "our mentors are a fantastic resource who provide our new students with a friendly face and a wealth of information".
Gai Sypher, Operations and Projects Manager of the Emerald Learning Centre said she was very pleased with the attendance on the day.
Staff from CQUniversity in Rockhampton made the trip out to Emerald to assist the local staff in ensuring the day ran smoothly.
The annual CQUniversity Academic Awards Ceremony took place in the evening at the Emerald Meteor Motel, with Maria Parlato as compere.
CQUniversity prides itself on its work-ready graduates and this was exemplified by a past graduate from the Bachelor of Learning Management, Jessica Goodman, who presented an inspiring, warm, reminiscent speech dedicated to her learning journey at CQUniversity Emerald Learning Centre.

"I have never felt more proud in my 12 years at the University, than I did listening to Jessica's speech," Mrs Sypher said, "It was wonderful to see so many of our talented students in attendance, proudly supported by their families".
Award recipients included Angela Horn and Estelle Schluter for the highest GPA in Introductory & Contract Law, Mandy Ecker for the highest GPA in the course Principles of Economics, Bridie Willis for the highest GPA in the First Year of the Bachelor of Learning Management, Nicole Jackson for the highest GPA in the Bachelor of Learning Management, Betty Kunaka for the highest GPA in Marketing and Kelly Wilkins for the highest GPA in the course Principles of Accounting. Local business scholarships were awarded to Matthew Free and Milla Holland.
