Uni part of India Australia Friendship Fair

Sydney Olympic Park recently showcased one of the biggest events of the year, the India Australia Friendship Fair.

An estimated 20,000 people from the Indian and Australian communities brought the centre alive to celebrate India's 61st Independence Day.

The catchy sounds of Bollywood music, the colourful traditional dances performed by children and youth of all ages, camel rides, children's rides and the exotic aroma of Indian food filled the Olympic Park.

The Bollywood actress Tania Zaetta, the man with the golden voice Kamahl and representatives from the NSW Cricket Team made special appearances.

CQUniversity Sydney campus was a silver sponsor of this huge event.  The stall was located within close proximity of the main stage.

Five staff attended wearing CQUniversity polo shirts. CQUniversity students from the Sydney campus, agents and the Vice-Chancellor John Rickard (with his wife Veronica) were among those that visited the stall.

There were many enquiries from attendees that wanted to know more about the University and the programs we offer.

A lucky draw was held every half hour, attracting a large group of people waiting for the draw to win prizes, which included notebooks, magnetic notepads, bags and CQUniversity polo shirts.

Everyone who participated also went into the major draw to win the grand prize, an IPod player. This was won by Roshan Mahajan.

The day was marked with unusually cold weather but still managed to draw a large crowd. The Fair was a huge success, celebrating  the diverse culture of India.
