Indigenous scholarship recipient Janita on track for business career
Published on 31 March, 2010
Bundaberg's Janita Chapman left an admin job at Q-Build years ago to care for her young family but now has a renewed interest in developing a fresh career in business.
She thanks support from CQUniversity, the Faculty of Arts, Business, Informatics and Education, the Tertiary Entry Program run by the University's Indigenous Centre (Nulloo Yumbah) and an Indigenous Business Australia scholarship for keeping her focused on her Accounting/Business degree.
Janita said her husband Chris spent a period working as a Police Liaison Officer and "we as a family cottoned on to the benefits of social interaction, connectedness and valuable community support".
"Our children were educated at Bundaberg East State School and Kepnock High, attended Living Word Fellowship and participated in local sports such as netball, basketball, softball and rugby league," she said.
"Over the past 2 decades, I have also put some time in with local Indigenous associations with training in administration and finances."
