Red Cross boss finds it's better to bid and receive

Australian Red Cross regional manager Jennifer Smith has been revealed as the top bidder in an Ebay auction designed to raise funds for the Red Cross, in the wake of the recent flood devastation.
Jennifer's personal bid of $1200 has been matched dollar-for-dollar by CQUniversity, hence she was able to accept a cheque for $2400 for the charity at the same time as collecting the bid item.
This bid item was a professionally framed copy of the Women's Weekly which Prime Minister Julia Gillard signed while visiting the Red Cross evacuation centre on Rockhampton Campus. The magazine came out immediately after Ms Gillard became Australia's first female Prime Minister, with the article and photo shoot causing a bit of a buzz at the time.
The personally-signed copy of the magazine was beautifully framed by Rockhampton Picture Framing and Wall Art, which kindly donated time and materials for this Red Cross Fundraiser.
It will now have pride of place on Jennifer's office wall. Jenny says her late mother was a great supporter of women's rights and would have loved to live to see the day when Australia gained its first female PM.
CQUniversity has been a long-time supporter of the Red Cross, with staff giving generously to the organisation through the University's Workplace Giving Program.
