Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU staff raise a sweet $600 for Daffodil Day 

CQU Infocom staff baked, bought and ate over 25 batches of fudge to raise $600 for the Queensland Cancer Fund.

PhotoID:2347 Fudge cooker Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning Elizabeth Tansley said the most popular flavours among infocom staff were strawberry fudge, peppermint, funtime and pecan.

"Other flavours included zesty orange, mocha, ultra dark, butterscotch, rum, caramel, macadamia, cherry ripe, malt, hazelnut and almond and some interesting combinations," she said. Fudge sorter and packer Commerical Campus Coordinator Chartlotte Harlen said "all the proceeds go to Daffodil day, this is Infocom's effort to fudge out cancer".

PhotoID:2348 Infocom staff also attended a morning tea to raise further funds and eat more fudge. The fudge was sold to infocom staff for $2 a packet and all ingredients were donated by staff.
