Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CMS awards presented at Sydney Campus 

There was much excitement and an air of anticipation when the 2008 CMS* (C_Management Services) Excellence Awards were announced and presented at CQUniversity Sydney Campus recently.

* CMS is the University's wholly-owned subsidiary (a commercial entity) which operates the Australian International Campuses (AICs).

After an all-day board meeting, CMS senior managers gathered in the evening to present the awards.

 CMS Chief Executive Officer Professor Ken Hawkins, Chief Financial Officer Peter Carter and Sydney Campus Director Susan Loomes were all on hand to officiate over proceedings.

, Sydney Campus notched up a number of notable achievements including a record number of published research papers by members of the academic staff.

In terms of campus-wide contribution to excellence; the biggest award winners were:

Irina Borodyansky (Gold Award)

Dana Dimitrieva (Silver Award)

David Keene (Bronze Award)

Dr Sujatha Sridharan (Teaching Excellence; voted by the students) and

Dr David Fox (Teaching Excellence).

Not to be overlooked, nominations for exceptional teaching performance and outstanding customer service were also announced and presented to a number of staff.
