Anita chalks up full circle in Education

Anita Rienks, a Learning Management lecturer at CQUniversity Gladstone is looking forward to the next intake of Education students.

What makes Anita unique is the fact she completed her own Bachelor of Education degree (now the Bachelor of Learning Management) through CQUniversity Gladstone and was in the first group of students to complete their Education degree in Gladstone.

Anita started her degree in 1997 and completed it in 2001, appreciating input from lecturers including Dr Bev Moriarty, Lyn Hughes, Helen Holden, David Eborn and Terry Rudder. Now she's working alongside many of these former mentors.

"I know it is a bit of a catchphrase but teaching really is tremendously rewarding," Anita said.

She now has the opportunity to lecture fresh BLM students and to see them getting excited and enthusiastic about learning.

Anita finds there is a strong sense of satisfaction in providing the teachers of tomorrow with the skills and knowledge they need for their future careers.

As a student starting a teaching degree at university, Anita can clearly remember thinking: "How could it possibly take 4 years to learn how to teach? Surely there isn't that much to learn!"

It didn't take long to realise it really would take 4 years to learn all about instructional design theories, educational theorists, child development and effective pedagogical practices.

With the Bachelor of Learning Management offered by CQUniversity Gladstone, the practical side of the degree is also fundamental in each student's development as an education professional.

If you are interested in becoming a teacher and want to know more, you can attend CQUniversity Gladstone's Bachelor of Learning Management - Be A Student For The Day program on September 8 (from 8.24am-4pm, registrations essential).
