Career support boosted at international campuses

CQU's Australian international campuses have re-named and reinvigorated their career support services.

The new Training, Employment and Career Coaching (TECC) program replaces the pioneering STEP service, developed in 2000.

PhotoID:1502 TECC represents a fresh business approach and also avoids confusion between STEP and CQU's STEPS return to study program.

TECC promises to identify and analyse student aspirations and needs, to research corporate expectations and to develop a business service concept which positions the AICs in a competitive graduate employment and careers field.

The new service will provide customised career mentoring and career development planning, entry into community service and volunteer programs and the opportunity to join Kiwanis International (a community service organisation which already has strong links to the AICs).

Students will conduct research and work with their mentor to prepare them for part-time job placements during study periods and for graduate opportunities upon completion of their studies.

PhotoID:1503 The program will also enable postgraduate students to access voluntary research positions in the business and technological professions.

TECC staff members include Tris Kerslake (Melbourne), Sandra Sutton and Julie MacColl (Sydney), and Louise Warming (Brisbane and Gold Coast).
