Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Mingjing tracked 'nationalist propaganda' of Olympic proportions 

Mingjing Chen tracked nationalist propaganda surrounding both the Sydney and Beijing Olympics to earn her PhD, supervised by CQUniversity's Professor Denis Cryle.

Her thesis focused on reportage of the Olympic preparation phases in both the Australian newspaper and China's People's Daily to compare the similarities and differences between the two publications.

She found that elements of nationalist propaganda infuse the Olympic coverage of both papers and events, albiet within different thematic and ideological contexts.
