Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Grace looks back into cinema history 

PhD researcher Grace Johansen gave some insight into the history of cinema in Central Queensland at last week’s Visual New Media Research Group meeting.

PhotoID:3358 Grace spoke about the impact of newsreels and documentaries during World War Two on the audiences of Birch Carroll and Coyle\'s Wintergarden Theatres in regional Queensland.

She also shared her thoughts on the film industry\'s support of Australia\'s war effort.

The mission of the Visual and New Media Research and Development Group is to conduct research and development into visual and new media forms.

The group is inclusive of, and promotes, a broad range of visual and new media forms and values diverse and hybrid approaches, perspectives and practices within visual and new media research and development.
