Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Rockhampton Campus is hosting a 3 Minute Thesis competition as part of CQUniversity's Showcase on Research and Development.

All interested people are welcome at this FREE event, from 5.30pm on Thursday, April 7, in the Harvard Lecture Theatre (building 32/G.18).

Research higher degree candidates will be vying to win a notebook computer and the chance to compete at the national 3 Minute Thesis competition in September.

Competitors must outline the significance of their research thesis in lay terms to a non-specialist audience.

Participants in the competition will represent a rich diversity of research across the many disciplines at CQUniversity.

Topics range from acute nursing experiences to the testing of novel substances to battle heart disease and diabetes.

There will also be more including 'Music Scenes in Malaysia'; 'Emissions Reporting in Australia'; and 'Medical Tourism: India - The Global Health Destination'.
