Teachers hear from experts on tech-age learning

Academics and other interested people have attended a series of free CQU presentations by visiting experts about the challenges of teaching in our increasingly technological age.
Professor Kerri-Lee Krause, Director of the Griffith Institute for Higher Education, spoke last week (August 20) about enhancing engagement by first-years.
Dr Kathleen Gray, from the University of Melbourne's Biomedical Multimedia Unit, this week (August 27-28) talked about challenges raised by academic use of blogging, audio and video podcasting, social bookmarking, social networking and wiki-writing forms.
She also discussed 'Digital Natives': first-year students' experiences and preferences in relation to information and communications technologies.
The presentations were delivered at CQU Rockhampton and videoconferenced live to lecture rooms at other campuses.
