Deborah Sibson (nee Nixon) remembers being a young girl straight from the country, when she first sighted her future husband walking past her dorm room at the Capricornia College, on CQUniversity Rockhampton Campus.

"I'd only arrived 2 hours earlier," she said.

"We played out our romance in the pool room on College and more than 30 years later we're still together.

Deborah and Stewart Sibson were among at least a dozen couples who first met at Capricornia College and who attended the 40th anniversary college reunion dinner together on June 20.

Now based at Yeppoon, Stewart is a civil engineer with Rockhampton Regional Council and Deborah is an education support officer for Yeppoon Primary School.

The Sibsons remember it only cost 50 cents per bottle for apple cider to fuel a social night at the College back in the 1970s.

Deborah went back to her original room during the reunion for old times' sake.

"I saw Stewart walk past the room again and it was like nothing had changed. It was very weird."

"It was a fun place. I remember one poor chap who had the entire contents of his room moved to the top of a substation and his car moved to the model flood plain at Engineering."
