Yeppoon's Village Festival is benefitting from CQUniversity's 'supporting partnership' as well as extensive involvement by staff and student performers.
This year's September 17-19 event includes a jazz extravaganza featuring our Jazz Ensemble, Salad Fingers and Groove Confederate student combos, while Bachelor of Music students Kendall Layt and Max Slater are part of a jazz-infused rock duo.
Education graduates Christian Tryhorn and Tim Price are back in town to perform 'angry blues' with Transvaal Diamond Syndicate.
Rockhampton Campus staff member and PhD graduate Jim Douglas is preparing his Ramones-tribute band Badones, staff member Csabi Szeles is performing on guitar, staff member Greg Capern is playing in Irish band McCool and PhD candidate Steve Butler is part of the Band Apple Band.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman will help with the official opening of the festival, on stage during the Friday night program. Our Division of Marketing will have an information booth operating during the event.
The Village Festival at Yeppoon Pony Club features four stages of live music as well as art workshops, a kids' program, street theatre, circus acts and a homebrew tasting competition. Patrons can camp for the weekend or visit for the day.
Volunteers are required to ensure the event runs smoothly, if you can spare some hours across the weekend please see the details here.
Festival tickets are on sale now, available from Yellow Door Books in Yeppoon, Pilbeam Theatre Box Office or at the door. Details are on the festival website.
