Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Thai teens keen on Aussie experience 

CQUniversity's English Language Centre is helping to host a group of Thai teenagers, who are visiting Rockhampton region as part of an Aussie cultural experience organised by the Universal Cultural Exchange (UCE) group.

Throughout October, the visitors will be soaking up the local lifestyle and studying English, while sharing aspects of Thai culture with their Homestay families, pupils of Glenmore and Yeppoon high schools and children at a childcare centre.

They will visit many local attractions, including the botanic gardens, Dreamtime Cultural Centre, Koorana Crocodile Farm, Cooberrie Park wildlife sanctuary and the Capricorn Coast.

The visitors gave a cultural presentation in the Rockhampton Campus courtyard this week.
