Unilink program begins at Gladstone campus

The Gladstone campus was busier than normal this week with the start of the Unilink 2006 program.

Seventy-five students attended classes in Learning Management, Marketing, Journalism and Social & Cultural Analysis.

Gladstone campus community relations officer, Shannon Connor, said the University was running the 5 short courses over 5 weeks to give adults in the community and high school students in years 10 to 12 a taste of university study.

“Often people think they would like to study but don’t really know what’s involved, so these free short courses are an excellent way to find out more without committing to anything long term.

“There are no costs involved with the courses and more importantly no exams or assessment which makes it a relatively stress free experiences for everyone,” said Ms Connor.

Over the next 5 weeks the Unilink students will be involved in a number of activities related to their subject areas such as interviewing, story writing, developing marketing plans, researching and visiting early childhood settings.

At the end of the 5 weeks the students will join together for a final session to reflect on their learning experiences and share their findings with other students, family and friends.
