Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Keen eye brings on winning streak

CQU's SSUP (Student System Upgrade Project) Test Manager Sharon McFadzen was on a winning spree recently when she helped the Capricorn Field Archers club take home 21 medals at the National Archery Competition.

But Sharon was not the only McFadzen with a keen eye; her husband Mark, and son Kyle, also took home medals.

Sharon received silver and 2 bronze medals in various classes of the competition. Mark took out 2 medals, while Kyle took home 5 after representing the branch team.

The family of archers now are looking forward to the State titles to be held over the May Day long weekend.

Sharon is on secondment to the SSUP project at CQU, but will soon return back to ITD in the student system team as a Senior Analyst/Developer.

Employed by CQU for almost 9 years, Sharon has worked on a number of projects in various departments throughout this time.
