Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

New CQU Emerald Campus hosts first events 

The new CQU Emerald Campus located at Emerald Agricultural College will host two significant events over the next week.

The first student and staff orientation at the new location will be held from 9am-11am on Friday, July 9. The morning event will involve a campus tour, welcome addresses, a workplace health and safety induction and a morning tea.

The following Tuesday (July 13, 4pm-8pm), CQU Emerald will host its first major teachers’ professional development workshop, featuring a presentation by education consultant and author Eric Frangenheim. (Mr Frangenheim presents workshops in most states in Australia and in New Zealand for schools and the corporate world. His ideas are regularly demonstrated in classrooms.) The CQU Emerald workshop entitled ‘Creating the Thinking Classroom’ will be attended by local teachers and learning management students.
