CQU Melbourne major sponsor of Thai Festival

CQU Melbourne International Campus recently joined Thai Air as the main sponsors for the Thai Food and Cultural Festival which coincided with the Thai New Year celebrations.

PhotoID:2883 More than 50,000 people visited the vibrant displays and performances held in Federation Square in Melbourne in early April.

The festival was a presentation of a taste of Thailand including traditional blessings by Buddhist monks, dances and songs of Thailand and a wonderful array of the foods, both traditional Thai and new Asia. It was also celebrating 60 years of the reign of the Thai King.

The CQU stall was popular as staff gave away branded t-shirts, back packs and CQU balloons.

Campus director Darryl Stewart joined the dignitaries on stage for the opening which was performed jointly by the very popular Lord Mayor of Melbourne, John So, The Royal Thai Consulate General, Dr Simon Wallace and Trish Broadbrige, the wife of a Melbourne Football Club player who was killed on the Island of Phi Phi during the tsunami (who has set up a school on the island).
