Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU graduate new CEO for Energex 

Congratulations to CQU graduate Terry Effeney who has been chosen as the new CEO for Energex.

Mr Effeney, who has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from CQU, was previously Chief Operating Officer for Ergon Energy.

PhotoID:3687 Mr Effeney has more than 25 years experience in the energy industry, combining an engineering and economics background with extensive operational management experience.

He also has extensive experience in senior line management, at both operational and strategic levels, including roles in network and field operations management and business development.

Mr Effeney was born and raised in Rockhampton and studied at the University of Queensland, gaining an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Degree in Economics.

He has also undertaken management studies at the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of NSW and most recently at the Michigan Business School in the USA.

Mr Effeney last year undertook an executive placement in the United States researching developments in the energy industry in North America.

He is married with three children and lives in Brisbane.
