Students and staff can put best foot forward in city challenge
Published on 22 August, 2006
Students and staff based at CQU Rockhampton can help their home district compete against Townsville in the 10,000 STEPS City of Origin challenge.
Teams of up to 5 people can register until September 11 for the challenge, which runs for 6 weeks from September 17 to October 28.
The Rockhampton end of the challenge is open to people from Rockhampton City, Livingstone Shire and Fitzroy Shire.
Participants can monitor their daily steps using pedometers and use the 10,000 STEPS website to record their individual and team progress.
The total Rockhampton district steps count will be compared with Townsville's count and adjusted to take into account overall populations.
CQU Wellness Working Group is actively supporting the initative and encourages staff to take up the challenge.
ITD has got into the spirit of the challenge and has 3 teams registered and keen to go. ITD is now challenging other faculties and divisions to support the 10,000 Steps City of Origin by getting their own teams together.
Registration forms and options to get pedometers are available from the 10,000 STEPS office in building 18 or by visiting:.
