CQU supports Statewide music school in Rockhampton

CQU is providing sponsorship, $3000 worth of scholarships and a performance venue for the inaugural SunWater and Stanwell Winter Music School to be held next week in Rockhampton (June 2-8).

The Statewide music school features the Southern Cross Soloists, supported by some of the finest musicians and teachers in Australia.

While the rehearsals and boarding for the high school musicians will centre on Rockhampton Girls Grammar School, CQU Rockhampton will host a performance on the evening of Thursday, July 6, from 7pm at the Helene Jones Music Auditorium, Building 5. The entry fee is expected to be $5.

A full symphony orchestra, symphonic band, chamber and combined choirs, chamber music groups, brass, string and percussion ensembles and intense workshops for voice and keyboard students are just some of the highlights in a thrilling week that will help take students' music education to the next level.

A final gala performance will be held on the evening of Friday, July 7, from 7pm in St Paul's Cathedral.
