Body modifiers sought for uni research survey

Central Queenslanders who have had cosmetic surgery, piercings or tattoos are sought to provide input into a research study.

CQU doctoral student Leeana Kent is keen to survey a range of people to provide a social psychological perspective on the decision-making processes involved in body modification.

People willing to help with the survey can contact Ms Kent for details via l.kent@cqu.edu.au or 07 4930 9696.

Ms Kent said that, until now, there had been scant research into the psychological side of body modification apart from the extreme examples associated with clinical psychology.

"I'm interested in the mainstream and routine types of modification, and would like to find out why people are getting involved," she said.
