Rockhampton's science teachers have access to one of Australia's leading science educators, thanks to a visit by Professor David Treagust.
Professor Treagust, who will be a visiting scholar at Central Queensland University from September 11-20, is a past president of the American-based National Association for Research in Science Teaching.
He is also Australasian editor for the prestigious International Journal of Science Education.
CQU academic Associate Professor Allan Harrison said Professor Treagust had an international reputation and was sought after as an expert in physics and chemistry education.
The visitor will present a seminar for university staff and interested members of the public on Tuesday (Sept 16) and a workshop for science teachers on Thursday (September 18). The university seminar will be videoconferenced to other CQU campuses.
Details of both events are available from Chantal Smith on 4930 6568.
Professor Treagust is currently based at Curtain University of Technology. He is hosted at CQU by the faculties of Arts, Health & Sciences and Education & Creative Arts.
