Formerly the Bachelor of Jazz Studies, when it was based in Mackay, the new degree in Rockhampton continues innovations including visiting professionals and island resort classrooms.

Friday night's program included exciting music, costumes and choreography from groups including El Loco, Kristin Berardi and James Sherlock, CQUniversity Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble and Rubber Biscuit.

The Bachelor of Music (Specialisation) is designed to provide specialist training in jazz and popular music and music technology. It is ideal for students considering a career in the music industry as a professional musician, performing artist, composer or educator.

There are around 40 students enrolled in the Jazz and Popular specialisation, while the Creative Music Technologies specialisation is available from next year onwards.
