Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Active Kids camp held at campus 

Children aged 10-12 have spent their summer holidays developing fitness and skills, thanks to an Active Kids program held at CQU Rockhampton this week.

PhotoID:1781 The Active Kids sporting and recreation camp was organised by the School of Health & Human Performance (HHP) at Central Queensland University Rockhampton.

Active Kids Rockhampton exposed children to a variety of sports and recreational activities, all taught by qualified development officers and recreational instructors in their various fields of expertise.

Activities included swimming, cricket, netball, volleyball, line dancing, touch, basketball, baseball, orienteering, table tennis, Sporting Wheelies activities and fun games.

Active Kids Rockhampton participants were supervised by CQU students studying Human Movement Science and training to be HPE teachers.
