Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Gem of a DVD available via Uni Bookshop 

Our Uni Bookshop has agreed to stock copies of a new DVD based on a project entitled Romancing the Stone from Cinderella to Waltzing Matilda: A Snapshot of the Sapphire and Opal Industries of Central Queensland. The DVDs will cost $25 each.

The DVD documentary explores the history of the small, independent opal fossickers and sapphire miners along the Tropic of Capricorn and the building of a heritage tourism industry.

This project was conceived and carried out by Dr Liz Huf (director/producer) and producers Dr Daniel Teghe and Jeni Richardson from CQUniversity and gained funding from the Queensland Government's Q150 Grant, Rockhampton Regional Council's RADF Grant and Central Highlands Regional Council.
