Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Brisbane Writers Festival event comes to Rockhampton  

Around 150 school students from throughout the district recently visited CQU Rockhampton to take part in the Word Play North Queensland Tour, featuring Brisbane Writers Festival guest authors Baba Brinkman (Canada) and Melaina Faranda (Australia).

The tour was an initiative of the Festival, supported by the Department of Education, Training and the Arts and hosted by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education at CQU.

During the free event, Faranda discussed the writing journey she takes as she creates each book in 'The Circle' series, while Brinkman performed and discussed his book 'The Rap Canterbury Tales'.

Books by the authors were available for purchase and signing.
