Dr Stephen Juan BIO

Dr Stephen Juan, BA, MA, PhD, California, is an Australian scientist, educator, journalist, author and media personality. He has taught in the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Sydney since 1978, where he is in charge of the First-Year Program. He was recently appointed Ashley Montagu Fellow for the Public Understanding of Human Sciences at the University of Sydney, a position that was created especially for him.
Stephen has written eleven books, which have been translated into 24 languages, including his series of "Odd" books which are filled with weird, wonderful, informative and entertaining facts about the human body and human behaviour. His talent for making the clinical both clear and entertaining has contributed to the success of these books, in which he delves into such biological mysteries as to why we hiccup and explores brain phenomena such as déjà vu.
He is a man of wide-ranging interests, with a research focus in the areas of anthropology and education, child development, parenting education and science education. His internationally syndicated newspaper column appears in newspapers all around the world and he is a regular guest on television and radio programs in Australia, Canada, and the United States of America.
