Bronwyn said the essay facilitated the depth of analytic research required to develop independent thought.

"On the road, I've met heap of students who are afraid of the essay writing process. My belief is that once you form an opinion on the topic of your essay and have something to say, you have something to write about. Most of us just don't really know what it is we are trying to say in our essays," she said.

Bronwyn writes from experience. She felt pressured and panicked when assigned an essay to write as an undergraduate student and this encouraged her write The Night Before Essay Planner: A Workbook to Plan, Research and Write Your Next Essay before embarking on her master's degree.

She offers essay-writing workshops and free online support for secondary and tertiary students.
