Distinguished visitor speaks on community development and perceptions of risk
Published on 20 October, 2005
Distinguished visitor Professor Sue Kenny (pictured with CQU's Dr Daniel Teghe) has delivered presentations at CQU Rockhampton on how 'risk society' affects community development practice.
The concept of risk society does not hold that life is necessarily more dangerous than it has been in the past. It holds that the identification of risk, risk assessment and risk management increasingly frame our everyday lives, often regardless of the objective reality of risk.
Professor Kenny, Director of the Melbourne Centre for Citizenship and Human Rights, was hosted by the School of Social Work and Welfare Studies under the Faculty of Arts, Health and Science's Distinguished Visitor Program.
