Mother in sun and loving it at CQU

The oldest AustraLearn student yet to study at CQU arrived in February leaving a husband and 14-year-old son back in Maine, USA.

PhotoID:1245 Forty-eight-year-old Crystal Hamilton (pictured) is studying here for one semester and plans to finish a teaching qualification on her return home.

"I spent some time with the US military in Korea but this is my first time in Australia and I am loving it," Crystal said, "although Rockhampton minimum temperatures are the same as the maximums back home and that took some getting used to!".

Crystal is studying two indigenous subjects, along with some psychology and geography courses.

AustraLearn provides scholarships to US students to study in Australia or New Zealand and each scholarship is for an average of one term.

Crystal will return home in late June, from a Central Queensland winter to a Maine summer. She said the temperatures will be much the same.
