QCWA Vice-President Val Beak presented the award at a small celebratory morning tea at CQUniversity Rockhampton last week.

The Bachelor of Science student from Emerald said the $500 bursary would particularly help with the costs of purchasing this term's text books.

Mrs Beak said the QCWA was pleased to be able offer financial support for students from the region.

The bursary provides support to a student whose permanent home address is in the Central Highlands.

Successful students are chosen on the basis of outstanding academic performance in conjunction with a 500-word supporting statement.

The QCWA began its long association with CQUniversity in 1970 and a prize has been donated each year since. In 1996, the annual prize was replaced with an annual bursary of $500.
