CQU held a welcome luncheon for some international visitors in Rockhampton last week.
Among them was Kang Liting (Shirley), from Shanghai, China, who was the winner of the Queensland Cup English Competition.
The Queensland Cup is a joint project between the Queensland Government Trade and Investment Office in Shanghai, the Shanghai Municipal Government and the Queensland Government. It is primarily an English language speaking competition where contestants are judged on their capacity for interactive dialogue.
Also visiting was Professor Mark Borzi, the Chair of the Department of Communication Studies, Eastern Illinois University (EIU), Charleston.
Professor Borzi was in Rockhampton to explore the possibility of developing faculty cooperative research initiatives and to help increase the number of Study Abroad and Exchange students.
EIU has been one of CQU’s long-standing partner institutions.
Also visiting CQU last week was Mike Johnson – Director, CANTEACH. Mike is a Canadian who lives with his young family in New Zealand and has been working as an agent for CQU since last year.
This year, Mr Johnson has already recruited 3 students to CQU's Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching program.
