Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU applauded for Export Award win 

Staff at Central Queensland University will be in the spotlight on Monday following the University's recent win as the Australian and Queensland Education and Training Exporter of the Year.

The Department of State Development will host a special workplace presentation to congratulate CQU’s employees in Rockhampton.

The University reached the finals of the 2002 Australian Export Awards by winning its category in the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards.

Also in the running for the Australian Exporter of the Year Award were University of Canberra (ACT), Insearch UTS (NSW), Flinders University (SA), University of Tasmania - International Services Division (Tas), Melbourne University Private Ltd (Vic), and Phoenix English Language Academy (WA).

Minister for Public Works and Minister for Housing, Robert Schwarten will present the Premier of Queensland’s Export Award to Vice-Chancellor and President of CQU, Professor Glenice Hancock, in front of the University Council and staff.

PhotoID:562 Minister for State Development Tom Barton said CQU’s outstanding success was testament to the dedication and effort of people behind the organisation. Export Award winners were presented with their Awards by Premier Peter Beattie at a gala black tie dinner at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 23 October 2002. The National Export Award was presented in the presence of Prime Minister John Howard in Melbourne on November 23, 2002.

University staff are invited to attend this special presentation at CQU Rockhampton’s Bruce Hiskens Building (Library) on Monday at 9am. Morning tea will follow.
