"Existing students have always been able to study in Term 3 but this is the first time new applicants through QTAC, the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre, have been able to start their studies over the summer," explained Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean Kevin Tickle.

Professor Tickle said the extra flexibility extended to new students would enable them to start sooner and finish faster than what had been available previously. All students will study by distance education.

66 people were made offers in Business and Accounting.

"What we're seeing reflected here is a demand for more business professionals to service the local economy," said Professor Tickle.

11 offers were also made in Digital Innovation, Creative Enterprise and the Arts.

"These are the areas where new careers are emerging - where technology, entertainment, information and culture come together."

Whilst application for Term 3/Summer are now closed, CQUniversity is accepting queries and enrolment for Term 1 2009. Classes start in March.

CQUniversity Rockhampton is giving prospective students the chance to find out more about the programs on offer at a special information evening. The University will host a See What You Want to Be Evening from 4pm-8pm on Thursday October 30 on the CQUniversity Library Lawns.
