It is often said fathers and their daughters have a special bond. This was certainly the case for one local father who graduated from Central Queensland University alongside his daughter last Saturday.
Dave Oliver received the PhD award for his research into Enterprise Resource Planning systems together with his eldest daughter Lorna graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Engineering Technology and an Advanced Certificate in Information Technology.
Dr Oliver is a senior lecturer in CQU’s Faculty of Informatics and Communication, while Lorna has been recruited by Woollahra Municipal Council in Sydney as a Traffic and Transport Planner.
Dr Oliver said this double graduation was a unique occasion for his family, celebrating the culmination of years of study for the pair.
Dr Oliver also graduated alongside 12 other PhD recipients at this weekend’s ceremonies.
