Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Uni welcomes more than $8 million boost 

CQUniversity has welcomed 2 major funding announcements from the Federal Government this week (Dec. 11-12.), securing more than $8 million for infrastructure and education pathways.

The University has gained $6.4 million for infrastructure upgrades from a Teaching and Learning Capital Funding pool (available from July 1 next year) and 2 campus grants of $991,000 each provided from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations Diversity and Structural Adjustment Fund.

The structural adjustment grants will enable establishment of Place-Based Education Pathways at the Gladstone and Mackay campuses.

The infrastructure funding news came as part of the Rudd Government's $4.7 billion nation building package to strengthen the Australian economy and create Australian jobs.

Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard welcomed the federal government assistance which will boost industry links and move forward a range of campus building projects.
