Digital multimedia presentations produced by CQU Bundaberg students, Max Fleet and Paula Swift, were a highlight at the recent Drovers Tribute Dinner at the Fifteenth Outback Muster and Drovers’ Reunion, in the theatre at the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame.
With a campfire in the background and billy tea on the boil, guests watched the presentations unfold in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
"CQU places strong emphasis on multimedia and IT students receiving first-hand industry experience. This project was indicative of that commitment,” said Grayson Cooke, multimedia lecturer at CQU Bundaberg Campus, and a member of the Bundaberg Media Research Group.
The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame first approached the Faculty of Informatics and Communication at CQU in late 2004. A relationship has evolved which will allow students to gain valuable experience producing content for various Hall of Fame events. Both organisations hope to continue the relationship, ensuring that future multimedia students will also gain from working on exciting industry projects like this.
Victoria Kerrisk, General Manager of the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, was very happy with the students and the quality of their presentation.
“The weekend went really well and the students did a great job,” she said. The students had a great time, took lots of photos and chatted to many of the old Drovers.
The presentations were produced using Macromedia Director, one of the multimedia software packages students learn when they study in the Bachelor of Multimedia Studies at CQU.
