Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

New CEO for Rail CRC 

The Board of the new Rail CRC has appointed ONTRACK (New Zealand) Chief Executive David George as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer, replacing CQU Adjunct Professor Dudley Roach.

The original Rail CRC has been headquartered at CQU Rockhampton.

Mr George has been Chief Executive with New Zealand rail infrastructure company ONTRACK for the past 3 years, and has a total of more than 30 years' experience in the rail industry, including 14 years in Australia with QR.

Mr George has also had several years' experience in the UK with British Rail.  His specialist areas include marketing, sales, business development, coal/rail supply chain management, strategic planning, change management, customer service, bulk and container freight transportation and railway infrastructure management.

Mr George will relocate to Australia, and begin his role as CEO of the new Rail CRC in August 2007.
