Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

'Buy Local' Scholarship winner graduates

The Action Capricorn Buy Local committee identified Julie Holbeck's potential based on her high school results and offered her a scholarship package worth more than $5000 to encourage her to continue studying in her home city of Rockhampton.

Now Julie has paid back the committee's confidence by graduating from CQU (this Saturday, March 11) with Bachelor of Accounting and Bachelor of Business Information Systems degrees, both with Distinction.
