Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Brisbane celebrates library week 

Library and Information Week celebrations were held at the Brisbane International Campus recently.

Students and staff were keen competitors in the 'Matching the Staff Photo' and 'How many books in the yellow bag' competitions, with two students taking out the final prize: MD Hamidul Hogue and Fan Lu.

PhotoID:3075 The Library Staff Choice Awards were established by CQU Brisbane Library staff, adding a touch of fun to the celebrations. The 'Best Library All Rounder' Award was presented to Brisbane student Pardeep Sharda who was described by library staff as a conscientious, polite library member who is always studying and working hard.

"Arriving at 9:30am every morning, student Christine Wamuyu always gets the best seat in the house,” library staff member Maree Watson says. Christine was presented with the 'Best Library Tenant Award'.

Annup Gurung, the enthusiastic finance officer, was presented with 'The Eager Beaver Award' and Campus Director Geoff Wessling won the 'Sherlock Holmes Award'.

To end the library celebrations, a morning tea was held which was well attended by students and staff.
