IHSSR secures appointment to bi-national Food Standards Research Panel

CQUniversity Australia's Institute for Health and Social Science Research (IHSSR) has been appointed to the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Social Research (FSANZ) Panel for an initial period of three years.

The appointment, achieved through a competitive tendering process, was formerly announced late last week. What it means is that the IHSSR may be either called upon to assist FSANZ in the completion of specific research projects, or invited to tender for these specific projects.

Staff of the IHSSR will work in close alliance with social researchers from FSANZ to deliver different aspects of projects, from literature reviewing, to the development and collection of data for social surveys, to dissemination of research findings.

The FSANZ (Australian dollar) budget for social research in 2010-2011 is $300,000 and the total value of all services over the initial three year period of the panel could range between $900,000 and $1.5 million - although individual contracts are likely to range from $50,000 to $100,000.

A team led by the Institute's Dr Karena Burke was responsible for submitting the successful tender. For more details about the panel, contact Dr Burke on 4930 9908 or via k.j.burke@cqu.edu.au.
