A delegation of members of the Chinese Yichang Educational Bureau visited CQU Melbourne International Campus in December.

The nine delegates were in Australia to inspect facilities that are to receive Chinese students for English and academic courses.

Highlights of the Australian visit included a tour of CQU Melbourne International Campus, where they met with the Acting Campus Director, Barbara Abou-Lehaf and a tour of the Meridian International School (MIS) escorted by Pat Stewart, Campus Director. The group was impressed with the facilities at CQU and MIS.

While on campus at CQU, the board members were presented with a CQU information bag.

It was an exciting day for all involved, and was an example of the strong relationship between CQU, MIS and the Education Institutes of the Hubei provincial city of Yichang.

A thank-you letter was also received from Quan Li, Chairman of the CQU Chinese Students and Scholars Association and a student in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems. The letter expressed thanks from Professor Zhang Shuanggu, Counsellor of Education, for the help and support given to Chinese students at CQU in 2002.

Members of the board who participated were: Li Wei, Deputy Director of Yichang Education Bureau; Zhai Xiugang, Director of Education Admission and Examination Centre of Yichang City; Du Yingdong, Director of Xiaoting District Education Bureau; Yang Zhongwan, Director of Xiling District Education Bureau; Feng Anyan, Principal of Yichang Television and Broadcasting University; Tan Zigang, Assistant Headmaster of Yichang No.1 Middle School; Hu Huawei, Assistant Headmaster of Yichang Foreign Languages Primary School; and Cai Lu, Interpreter of Yichang Municipal Government Foreign Affairs Office.
