'Music and Mayhem' hit Mackay

Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music Director Greg Whateley and ABC presenter Anne O’Keeffe were guest speakers at a ‘Town and Gown’ event last week in Mackay.

PhotoID:342 The topic for the evening ‘Music and Mayhem’ led Ms O’Keeffe to present a range of music associated with military battles from World War I to today. Associate Professor Whateley played guitar, entertaining the audience by substituting and omitting words from various popular songs. ‘Town and Gown’ events promote interaction between community identities and academics. The presentations are organised every two months by the CQU Foundation Building Parterships Program.

Although this was the final event for 2002, CQU Foundation Program co-ordinator Mary Novikov hoped they would be held more frequently next year.
